Why do people ask for BIOS files?

What are they doing with them? Just reflashing to clear passwords? Restoring corrupt images? Reverse engineering?

Looks like getting rid of BIOS corruption, by re-writing to the flash...

Re: Why do people ask for BIOS files?

Most people need to reflash since, well, it's never been a good idea to update from within Windows, yet most OE tools do! I have asked for a T520 BIOS for reverse engineering since my modified BIOS wouldn't produce a good Coreboot ROM. But thats a fringe case.

You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

Thanks guys, I have always wondered why so many schematics sites come with BIOS dumps for purchase as well.
