    Vestel PSU Caps C877 & C878

    Hi there,
Just wondering where is a good supplier of these caps?
Someone is selling a pair of them for £2.95 on ebay and actually marketing them as for replacements for the Vestel PSU.
Another seller is selling "630V 15 NF 10mm Metal Polyester" caps (Qty 15) for £4.80 - are those just exactly the same?

Just get some generic caps they will work fine, its a design flaw with these Vestels. Think the originals are not rated for enough voltage. So make sure to get 15nf 1000v in stead.

Best select ones that are pulse rated (for SMPS) over generic ones which may fail sooner. Also, it is important to get the same capacitance and same or higher voltage rating. 1000V rating should be good.

Thanks guys. When I last did TV repair for a living (some 20 years ago), I used CPC, CHS and Grandata for components & spares. Do any of you UK guys have a preferred supplier nowadays?

CPC and Farnell are decent. CPC is free delivery above £5 ex VAT.

RS Components, Farnell & CPC will all take a credit card order unlike 20 years ago.

Is it Polypropylene for high frequency-high pulse current type instead of Polyester which will depends on how the cap is used in the circuit?
