694d dead after recap?here is the cure

this board was sent to me by topcat as dead after recap.
so i dug in to it and here is what i found
the vrm controller chip a mosfet and a 10 ohm resistor as seen in pic
btw the sc1182csw is pin compatible with the 1164 these boards came with.
    this board works fine now.
i guess it wont mind a leaded resistor since i dont have any smt that size.

*takes notes*. only dead-after-recap I've had to fix was a board I recieved DOA, and a quick inspection showed a few SMT caps were broken off. bent the leads sideways on some radial tantalums and soldered them in their place. haven't had to dig into VRM circuitry yet.

I've repaired a lot of SMT's broken off, mainly on VP6's by the CPU sockets when someone carelessly removed a heatsink. That one obviously got by me

Glad ya got some use out of it, I was gonna pitch it in the trash after I stripped it down. Glad I didn't.

Is it just the lighting in the picture, or is that MOSFET really that bad? It certainly looks like it's had a little extra heat-treating. The solder connection for the MOSFET case to the board doesn't look all that good, either.

          its just the light.
that is an after repair pic.
btw the dead giveaway was that vrm being at 0.0 v
