Ok your using a cable connection and the port on the pc seems to be ok.
Check the cable hasnt been nipped or badly kinked have you another cable?
Did you run IPconfig
and msconfig

the cable seems fine, i tried another one but i still get 'the following action could not be completed: Renewing your IP address'

im currently using my laptop, my mother uses the desktop which is an older model,

i did msconfig n made sure DCOM n DHCP were running, my internet provider said apparently its my computer, i dont believe that, the modem should grant direct internet to my laptop when i plug in the cable, this is tiring

what make/model is the modem.

In Your web bar what happens if you type home

or 169.254.0.1

EDIT
Further idea as you did before to get the ip config but
type in ipconfig /release

Then after it has put info on screen type
ipconfig /renew

And note what it says

Hi what is the model of the modem/router?

Also 169.254.0.1 is assigned by windows.

Once I have the make and model of router/modem I will be able too look-up it's ip and we can go from there to do some testing.

the model is 'ARRIS'

since there's no internet typing in 169.254.0.1 it says 'Unable to connect'

i did ipconfig /release then i did ipconfig /renew and it said -
"Windows IP Configuration
An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection 5: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out."

i noticed the 'IP Routing Enabled' said No so i fixed that so now it says yes, but no change

my internet provider said that my computer's no good that i need another one, but that never happened to me before, ive had computers where the motherboard died and i needed a new one, but never had to change a computer because of no internet connection, plus my computer had internet again when i reset the modem a bunch so i kno it cant be the computer

Ok well u have a mac address so that is ok I have had pc's forget thier mac before.

Is there other pc's connected to the cable modem that work if so could you run ipconfig and post what u get from ipconfig.

ok turn off modem and pc turn on modem once it has started turn the pc on.

if it connects run ipconfig and post what you get.

this will allow me to get settings needed to configure your pc to a static ip.

when u unplug the grey internet cable from ur modem usually the 2 little computer icon that shows ur connected should have an 'x' over it right? i unplug the internet cable and there's still a yellow explamation on the 2 computer icon no 'x', nothing happens, i cant figure it out and neither can u guys, i give up, im calling a tech -_-

We can figure it out hence why we are still asking questions.

With the info
You have given just now could be somthing wrong with windows or the network interface.

The test above was to see if it would work again and if it did we could have set the pc to always use working settings and if the issue contined there is somthing wrong with modem or network cable or the pc.

Also I had another test and that was to try another computer using the same network cable and everyting the same and if it worked fine it would mean there
Is a fault with the pc.

To find the fault with the pc means checking software as for the hardware the easyist solution is a pci or pcie network card depending on what slots you have.
