    SV25 Beep codes?

I have recapped three sv25's successfully. I have one more that I just finish and is doesn't seem to work. One Long and Two short Beeps. And then a rumbling sounds through the tiny little speaker that gives the beeps. The fans spin up...no video...I did a little research and found this

Here's the beep codes for Award BIOS:
No Beeps No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
1 Short Beep Normal POST, computer is ok.
2 Short Beep POST error, review screen for error code.
Continuous Beep No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
Repeating Short Beep No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
One Long and one Short Beep Motherboard issue.
One Long and Two short Beeps Video (Mono/CGA Display Circuitry) issue.
One Long and Three Short Beeps. Video (EGA) Display Circuitry.
Three Long Beeps Keyboard / Keyboard card error.
One Beep, Blank or Incorrect Display Video Display Circuitry.

I know it's a long shot but does anyone have any ideas?

Solder shorts or PC board damage around the caps for the AGP slot or AGP voltage regulator? I hope it's not damage to a plated-through hole.

Test it with PCI graphics card.

good question, I don't know, I just knew I was going to recap it so I didn't bother checking it, because all the caps were swollen and looking really bad.

I'll try a PCI card tonight to see if that makes any difference...

              Slight bit of progress...
I tried it with a PCI graphics card and now I got a "bios checksum error" "detecting floppy drive and A media" "insert system disk and press enter" I hit enter and get nothing....

But I do have a display with the PCI card...

Make sure you have good CPU and RAM. Also clear CMOS. If BIOS checksum error persists, the BIOS might be really corrupted. Prepare a bootable disk with latest BIOS and flash utility - let it boot from it and flash the BIOS.

made a bit more progress, when trying to flash the Bios, I get to the A: prompt and when I type the numbers...it's like the shift key or something was being held down...

I cleared the CMOS, got the flash utility working...Flashed it...and it actually worked...this thing is coming back to life!!

Hooked up the hard drive...and it wouldn't detect it...

restarted it, and bam...went right into windows!!

well see how it holds up!

thanks for the ideas and support guys!

*EDIT* Looks like the Onboard graphics works!!

                  Yippy!

                    Re: SV25 Beep codes?

Onbord video probably did not work because of the BIOS corruption. The bootblock often does not include BIOS for onboard VGA but it can initialize PCI VGA (on older boards, often only ISA).
Keyboard problems are common with bootblock too - the keyboard support there is very minimal. Sometimes, it does not work at all - then you need to create autoexec.bat on the floppy that flashes the BIOS automatically.
