Sansui SV-EPD4230BP Sometimes wont switch on/ Solved

Hi Guys,

Sansui plasma TV sometimes not switching on. I found on a hot day or if the set had been running, and then switched off it wouldn't power up again. I just chased likely suspects with a can of freezer, until I found U501 (PHOTO) on the PSU responded positively to being cooled down. Replaced it now all good. Faulty chip NCP 1203P 100.

If you find that does not solve the problem, change the electrolytic cap. beside the ic. It can dry out overtime and cause a similar problem

Hi RJ, thanks I omitted to say that the cap had been changed. I didn't mention it as it had not cured the fault in my instance, but will definitely check it out if another set like this comes my way.
