    Asrock P4VM900-SATA2

    Hi,

I have a board as the title says and there are two bloated caps on it.
Some information about the failed capacitors:

    1x OST RLX 105C 0730 6.3 V 1500 uF

    1x OST RLP 105C 0730 6.3 V 1000 uF.

They are located between NB and the main power connector.
I ordered some Panasonic FR-series capasitors
    (specific models EEUFR0J102 and EEU-FR0J152L)
but afterwards I noticed that their ripple current tolerances are
lower compared to the originals ones
(1580 mA vs 1650 mA and 950 mA vs 1540 mA).
(provided that i have read correct datasheets)

Is it okay to use them as replacements? Thanks for possible answers.

It would of course not be optimal.
But then again running the system with failed caps is much worse!

The 1540mA ripple current rating comes from the 10x16 case size 1000uF 6.3V OST RLX in the datasheet, not the 555mA ripple rating found in the RLP datasheet for OST RLP (8x12 case size, 1000uF 6.3V). So I can't possibly see how using FR will hurt there. The 1580mA rating is possibly mistaken for the 1560mA rating in the Panasonic FR datasheet (8x20 case size)? That said, the replacement is rated for 0.030Ω whilst the original was rated for 0.021Ω. Panasonic FR has 4.5x the endurance rating of the original cap, but I would not recommend going up in ESR. This could be a better replacement for the failed RLX.

Still, as Per said, there is nothing worse than running a board with failed capacitors (well, unless you try running the board with no capacitors installed, period, but we won't get into that ). If you are getting the FR from authorized distributors (Mouser, Digikey, etc), they should work fine. It would also be ideal to replace all the OST capacitors on the board, not just two, as if two have failed, the rest aren't far behind.

        Hi,

Seemingly i didn't manage to read the datasheets properly.
So it's okay to replace the failed 1000 uF capacitor with EEUFR0J102?

I found also some Rubycon ZLH series caps (16V, 1800uF, 10x23, with the code T1138). They seem to have better ripple rating and almost same impedance (=ESR?) compared to the failed 1500 uF capacitor.

Yeah you should be fine with those replacements.
Note that you can also replace 6.3v rated capacitors with 10v or even 16v rated capacitors, as long as they'll fit.
