    MS-7267 Ver 4.2 (U25 chip burnout)

    A friend give me a msi motherboard with the u25 chip burnout, board post ok but not working usb and ps2 ports.
    The chip has removed from the board but i can't find what chip is, do you have a schematic or do you know what chips is?
    I have found some schematic but is not the same for this revision

    judging the number of caps in that zone the missing chip is probably the sound chip "Realtek ALC888". i have circled the chip in the photo below

      ^Agreed.

      See if the front USB port headers are working. If not, PSU or something must have FUBARed the SB badly, as that's what implements USB and PS/2.
      And if the front USB port headers are working, check the poly-fuse for the back USB ports. The PS/2 ports might be on the same fuse too, or maybe not.

        Yup. It's definitely the Audio controller. The USB and PS/2 ports should function just fine without it. There is something else wrong.
        I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

        No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards
