Hello, I'm here looking for information on how to diagnose the reason my LG 42LV5400 LED TV quit working and how to go about repairing it. It appears to turn on with the remote and the touch controls but the picture and the sound does not come on. After about 5 seconds it appears to shut itself down. I'm off to search the forum.....

Found this forum while looking for a possible resolution to a faulty Panasonic plasma. I have no TV repair training unless you count the fact that My dad was our area (Alnwick, UK) local TV engineer at a time when everybody rented their TV's during the 60's/70's and early 80's and the valve was king. Occasional periods of summer holiday were spent going on service repair jobs with him and being allowed to remove the TV backs and then a trip to the van to retrieve the appropriate valve, capacitor or resistor. I also restore motorcycles and as a member of such, find forums an invaluable source of help and information.

                  Hi Everyone-

I am from Poland and I found this place when I was searching for the fixes for my Apple ///'s PSU. I love to tinker with all vintage electronics but I am really into vintage computing.

Best wishes for the New Year to all of you!

                    Hi,
I live in Slovakia (funny to see post above me is from someone in the country above me!)

I am trying to fix an HP LP1965 LCD. I found two threads already in these forums, but doesn't seem like quite my problem.

Hey everyone! I'm kinda new to computer repair, but trying my best to learn! Right now working on a dell precision m6500 that won't turn on. The motherboard gets power, but when I put it all together it tries to start, but can't. The fans spin for like 2-3 sec and then stop. Took it to a repair shop they said something is wrong in the dc jack area so trying to find out what that is...

My name is Tony and user name is CZECHT

I live in Lincoln, Nebraska since 1981, but as you can tell, I'm originally Czech, at least for my first 26 years of my life. I hate communism and socialism, so I escaped and I love my new country!
I also was, as a young kid, interested in electronics, but only now I'm playing with Arduino and few projects, using some exciting tools like oscilloscope, generator, many meters including my Christmas present Fluke 289....
I love to help handicapped and poor people as much as I can and use my toys to do so. I'm fixing a TV that I found at the curb, it is Emerson LC32OEM2, where the power supply, I think, is the problem. I get the 5V to work, but I can't get the 24V at all, even the ready LCD doesn't work, so here I'm to get some help. I was able to download the Service Manual, but there aren't any details about voltages to check... Is there anyone out there who can help me or let me know where to "poke" to see if someone has any reference points with voltage measurements or what should I do. Please do not use abbreviations, I could get easily confused... ha ha ha Thank you very much! Happy New Year to all!

Welcome here, I'm the LAST NEW MEMBER today, at least for next few seconds! I lived in Czechoslovakia, it doesn't exist no more, but I was living in the Czech Republic, near Germany (It was Germany, until the WW2!)! Thanks gooooooooood the communists are gone, at least for now! I also have a question, does anyone communicate using Skype, in case to help someone? I think it will take sometimes Skype to help me... ha ha ha
I just helped, for several days, a guy who purchased a 3D printer like mine and had nothing but trouble. It was mainly his own mistakes that caused to burn up the controller board and.... I hope I'm not that guy in the future!
Anyway, I hope I can start posting some messages here, and fix the TV that can become a monitor for my repair room.
You all have a great day and Happy New Year!

Found very useful info, before even registering to site.
Have problems all the time with the caps, bios, comps, led tv and all those electronic gizmos.
Have no basic electronic education, just one semester, transistors, diodes, eh long tome ago. Didn't know, that such good site exist.
Hopefully will be trying to input some of my experience to this site.
                                        Site looks great.
