I have a THOMSON 24" LCD TV that works with an external 12V/5A (in fact 5.2A rated current consumption). The CHINA-made smps I bought with it just literally burned after a few hours of continuous watching. Any cheap do-it-yourself design of such a SMPS?? A 12V car battery is not a good solution.
