    Fake polymers?

    Hey everyone

So many things happend this year, and because of that - only place where i could buy caps is Aliexpress

I won't consider buying electrolytics from ali(or if there is a good trusted seller, than i would buy), but i think polys will be good

Are polys could be easily faked ? Especially FP12K Caps from Nichicon/Fujitsu(not FP5K, FP12K), their shrink is more chrome'ish compared to other caps, so maybe anyone knows anything about it?

    Re: Fake polymers?

Well, it seems like it would be hard to relabel the caps, since new sleeving seems a lot easier to do than new printing on the top of the cap.
I'm not sure how hard it would be to fake polymers that you manufactured.

      Thanks for answer

More important question to me - is it easy to fake FP, as I call them 'Golden' caps(attachment picture bellow), their sleeve is golden color, and as i mentioned higher, they aren't available for public, and only sold to vendors such as ASUS, Gigabyte etc.

Any cap with a metallic can I would imagine is harder to counterfeit, FP or not. In fact I just did a google search and could not find one warning about counterfeit polys.

              Here are few interesting ones

Nichicon/Fujitsu FPCAP FP5K Golden for vendors

              https://aliexpress.com/item/32973706708.html

Very interesting and rare one, no info on this one on the internet, didn't saw anyone else selling these - NCC OS-CON FX(Info from capacitor.web.fc2.com: Capacitors with sleeves that have "OS-CON" written on the familiar Nippon Chemi-Con pot logo are solid capacitors of the "Nippon Chemi-Con OS-CON" series, and the contents are SANYO's OS-CON itself. It is a SANYO OEM product (probably made by marcon. Looking for information), and it is currently treated as an old product.
NIPPON CHEMI-CON Solid Electrolytic Capacitors (OS-CON)
Series: FA, FH, FS, FP, FX, FRA)

              https://aliexpress.com/item/32762747693.html

btw - two first are from same seller, and I think he MIGHT sell genuine sell, i'm not sure 100%

Black NCC PSE for vendors, also this seller has lots of caps with original packaging, but, i think, i know what's the trick on this one

On taobao there is lots of caps with these pictures, so, I think this seller either using those pics, either buying caps from taobao or selling genuine caps

              https://aliexpress.com/item/1005003467501500.html

Next two are from one seller, and one is looking veery counterfeit

Another golden FP5K, even with FPCAP bag with FPCAP part number(no info on internet)

              https://aliexpress.com/item/1005003832206418.html

Another black NCC PSE, BUT if you look at it and compare to first one, this one has black color only on top, which is kinda strange tbh... Also, btw, irl i've saw only black NCC PSF series on MSI Z97 Gaming series mobos, so maybe anyone has some info on black NCC PSE caps?

              https://aliexpress.com/item/1005003058963383.html

And last one is without photos, but is very interesting

FPCAP FP12K - these ones aren't very old, maybe they are made since 2017-18, and they are also sold only to vendors

              https://aliexpress.com/item/4001016481508.html

These are only interesting ones I've found, other caps i consider as just a random cap. For them - I'm focusing on price and them having short leads, here are 2 i've currently found

Some random 560UF 6.3V caps(equivalent to 1000uf 6.3v electrolytes for poly recaping) - 5$ for 40pieces, very cheap for me

              https://aliexpress.com/item/33013949726.html

100UF 16V(equivalent to 100uf 16V electrolytes for poly recaping, but they are rarely going bad), if i will buy two first caps on list then delivery fees will be low(around 10$ delivery, but if you buy many things from first seller, then delivery fee will be still 10$, even if you buy many caps)

              https://aliexpress.com/item/32717198523.html

Still didn't found cheap 270UF 16V(Equivalent to 470UF 16V electrolytes for poly recaping)

p.s. one trick(which on my opinion works 50/50) i've found to see if store on ali selling counterfeit stuff - look for Sanyo green caps with typical X type vent, usually WE series, or even no series, I think they didn't ever made those caps with X vents, only K ones. On my opinion - this store buys anything his owner found on taobao, and doesn't think about what he is selling, this one for example:

              https://aliexpress.ru/item/4000998269520.html

But, this store is Chen component store, if I'm not wrong someone ordered from this store and got good stuff, but I think it's 50/50 chance of seller buying genuine stuff or fake stuff

These capacitors might be original, however they are over 22 years old based on the date code on the packaging!

Sanyo capacitors do have X vents in the larger diameter series, these could be original however they are from 2008 as judged by the date code and the fact that Sanyo changed names to Suncon many years ago.

                  Re: Fake polymers?

the black caps in the first link look recovered from unsold product, they have signs of solder on the pins

try to avoid anybody selling caps with short legs

But why it should be avoided? Just interested. As I understand short leads are caps made for factory, and it's much easier then trying to guess Length of leads to cut

As I think, it's AX series rip off, but AX never had 3300uf 25v caps, also there are 1800uf 6.3v ripoffs of WG series, i have them at home lol, they came with ChongX(Copy of ChengX and Chang caps xD) 1000uf 6.3v caps

whoops, looked at datasheet - there in fact were AX 3300 25, my bad, also found them on LCSC https://www.lcsc.com/product-detail/...X_C242046.html

So, I guess not counterfeit, again, my bad

BUT, look at little caps with X vents, for example sellers which are selling WG series caps with X vents

most auto-insert machines use parts on a paper reel and cut the legs before inserting them.

                            ohhhh, ok then

Then it makes another question - why panasonic, for example, makes some SEPC caps with short leads ?

i didnt know they did, but it would make them a bit cheaper.
the only use would be for manual insertion on human production lines - not too many of those now.
