MAC A1312 Screen Glitches at Boot Up

I just got a MAC in.. Normally I don't mess with computers or laptops beyond a simple OS install..

But this is a nice MAC and I decided it was worth some effort...

It's an A1312 and what happens is a min or so into the boot-up I get a glitchy MAC apple and some glitchy-ness on the bottom of the screen..

Memory is the only thing accessible and I confirmed that it's not a memory issue..

I know MACs are a bear to disassemble.. So I wanted to get the opinions of what it might be before I commit to disassembly...

Not sure... It's one of those ALL IN ONE units that is all incorporated into the Monitor... Pulling it apart is a major chore...

They aren't to much off a chore. Use suction cups to pull off the screen cover. It's attached with magnets. Then it's T10 Torx holding in the LCD panel.

Looks like Radeon GPU issues. Replace/reflow/oven bake the GPU depending on your tools/skill level.

That doesn't sound like a huge deal.... It's been a while since I disassembled a MAC...

Reflowing a GPU isn't a problem at all...

I'll give it a shot.. Thanx..

OK, disassembly wasn't nearly as hard as I remembered...

Had a screw left over, but hopefully not an important one..

Did run into a bit of a snag though..

After reconnecting all the connectors and fan connectors and temp connectors, I have a plug left over.. I *THINK* there was something connected to it, but I can't find any cable that fits it.. It's possible the cable slipped behind the MB when I was pulling the video card, but not sure..

Anyone know if the marked plug actually has a cable attached???

Looks like that plug was superfluous or was for diagnostics or something..

              Boots up good..
