    RCA ctc177AG model F26633SF

I'm not a techinician but I try to do my best in learning how to fix stuff.
I just want to ask a question

this tv RCA chassis: ctc177AG model: F26633SF
when I turn it on looks fine but is les than 5 minutes
has a 3 inches on the top black and it starting to show 1 inch on the bottom black.

all ready resolder all the ground change the eprom but still the same tomorrow i'm going to get the 2 caps by the vertical output C4505 and C4506.
if anybody has any comment on this tv it'll be apreciated

    thanks.

Replacing the vertical output caps is a good place to start.

Also check the supply voltage to the vertical IC.

The vertical deflection shrinks after the set warms up?

    That's a switch.
Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

      dieing v out chip.
      bad tuner grounds.
if vertical shrinks and it gets snowy too its just the tuner grounds.
i use 2% silver solder.you need a good hot iron too.get all the points that go to the shields too.
      wash out the flux.
put your original eeprom back in to save you the setup work.its not the issue here.

        Re: RCA ctc177AG model F26633SF

supply voltage to the vertical IC pin 2 on the TDA8172 is 24V

just change c4505 but no luck still the same

the other cap I'm going to have to buy it online.

don't know other place that sells them other than radio shack
the solder that i'm using is opne from Radio Shack #64-013

        thanks.

            Read KC's post.

If its a dying Vertical output IC purchase some freeze spray (they sell it at Ratshack) power up the TV and wait until the vertical deflection shrinks then blast the IC with the spray if it reverts to normal replace the vertical output IC.
