Need alittle help with a fan transformer

Hi there, hope it's the right forum section.
I have a what i believe a wall fan that is 230v 150w
Could some one tell me what the brown, grey and black wire are.
#3 had burned out so I patched it, hence the red shrink tube.
I measured
1-2 @ 10 Ohm
5-6 @ 5 Ohm
6-8 @ 14.5 Ohm
7-8 @ 9.8 Ohm
Are these reading ok? is it safe to plug in?
I have no idea why it was discontinued in use other than the #3 burned out.

Without seeing the rest of the fan, Is there a speed select switch? was there a capacitor connected to the motor? How do you know it is 250 volt 150 watt? is there a lablel on it?
My guess would be it is a 2 speed fan, black is common, grey and brown are high and low speed selection. so connect a/c between black and grey are one speed or connect black and brown for the other speed.

Nope no switches or speed selector.

No idea sorry, it came from a deceased person and it was just along with other things.

Well then your guess is as good as anyones, It could be a 2 speed, or it could be missing the capacitor?
I can't seem to make out the brand name ??M?

I assembled it, doesn't seem there has been any capacitor, atleast no room for
it on the inside.
It's really hard to read on it.

Well if the leads came out of the fan like that I would guess 2 speed fan.

So I guess the readings were fine? and the burned wire must have happened because of overload/strain on the motor?

I would recommend that you use an incandescent light bulb in series with this motor to see if it spins with way you are wiring it

Well I just tried plugging it in, first brown and black then grey and black, and no luck
did not get any action from it :/

YJ84 is one type
Does it look like there may have been a wire on pin 5? It could be a 3 speed motor

It does not look like there was a wire in pin #5.
Also I noticed that the grey and brown are completely isolated.
I can only measure between pin #1 and #2.
Pin #1 or #2 cannot be measured between #3 to #8

May be the thermal protection fuse has blown, so the owner just discard the unit?

Well as I said earlier the #3 pin/wire was burned out, had to resolder it.
where might that fuse be hiding?
only place that I can see that could hold a fuse would be the #6 but I can measure from the #5 pin and #4 fine.

Thermal fuse is usually buried under the winding wrapping.
Good motor will have thermal protection, otherwise you can have problems like these:
