    Re: Car LED Headlights dimmer?

My wife laughed and said... people in Africa have more money than us and their diamonds are big than mine.

Nano has PWM output but can it do TPMS check out? My other idea was when the car closed to mine, like high low beam automatic switch to half brightness.

Can you just switch in and out the Rsensing resistors so you can do HI-LO?

That was a brilliant idea...This (Rcs) can omit the cumbersome current limit resistor. all you need are switching with SMD resistors. It costs $0.

I cannot tell from the pictures to see how those resistors (they are supposed to be 0.25 Ohm) are connected an what pin of the IC they are connected to, you should verify first.
The IC is QX9920 for sure? Can you see the power MOSFET? see the spec. sheet of the IC on how they are all connected together.

This one shows R220 is 0.22ohm. They are parallel for higher wattage.

The different car has different inside circuits construction. I have two sets.

OC5011 already has PWM input brightness control which sti highly recommended, We can use CMOS 555 as a simple PWM Generator to efficiently control brightness of the headlight.

According to the spec of QX9920, you can apply PWM to EN pin also.

thank you, I have seen QX9920 data but did not notice this.

luminescence and brightness are the same?

ps: in United States not allow to have lights outside or underneath the car and change the color of the headlights.

Can I have underbody neon lights if they are shatterproof?
To date none of the manufacturers of neon lamps have certified the color and intensity of their product. If they were to become certified then the color would be limited by the location but white, amber or yellow, and red is the only allowable colors to be displayed while operated on the road in accordance with DMV Regulation 14-137-101.

Can I have in addition to my headlights, neon bars that don't go on with the headlights, but are hooked up separately?
None of the manufacturers of neon lamps have certified the color and intensity of their product. The addition of not more than two auxiliary driving lamps, passing lamps, or fog lamps producing white or amber light is allowed provided that they are mounted at a height in accordance with Connecticut State Law Title 14 Sec. 14-96o. In addition, in accordance with Connecticut State Law Title 14 Sec. 14-96y there may be no more than four lamps exceeding 300 candlepower illuminated at the front at any one time. This means that if the headlamp system has two lamps on each side illuminated at any time then the auxiliary lamps must extinguish automatically. Furthermore, any auxiliary lamps of over 300 candlepower must only illuminate with the tail lamps and may not be independent for use on the road. Any additional lamps of less than 300 candlepower must produce amber or yellow or white light.

QX9920 EN pin and OC5011 pwm pin. I know they are digital pwm , but can we use analog signal input? For example, some IC have both functions. i gonna try it.

I'm gonna use TL494 to built a PWM and inject a signal into OC5011. see what will happen?

This PWM has two channels, Working frequency and period can be adjusted.

The hard part is LED headlight PCB is too small to work on.

                                  Pic4. I adjusted the P2 duty cycle.

The statutes referenced apply to vehicles in CT. You would have to examine each state's statutes to determine the legality of underbody lights, there.

E.g., one of my neighbors has underbody lights on at least one of his vehicles.

I wanted to import underbody lights to sell,10 years ago, but state laws legally not allow them. Maybe LED signs, lighting advertising billboards for business are good.

PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) "chops" a DC into many "pulsed packets" or "sections". Comparable with a turn signal circuit on the car, the consumer (eg a light bulb) does not get a "full" current, but just "packages". Now, the PWM is not specifically for flashing, but for "power control". Therefore, the "flashing frequency", so the output frequency of the packet sequence is usually so high that it would not be visible, you would connect a lamp. For example, 300 hertz for solenoid valves or motors or even 20 kilohertz and more for other applications.

                                        Pulse width modulation with TL494

The TL494 is a very convenient pulse width modulation IC and has been on the market for a long time. That's why he is relatively cheap. (Reichelt 43 cents). An IC with many features, and there's no reason for hobbyists to use any of the other, newer types that may be hard to come by or cost 10 to 20 times.

A few features of the TL494:

2 separate NPN outputs, load different according to manufacturer (Texas 200 mA, Motorola 500 mA per output)

internal 5 V reference voltage source, load capacity up to 10 mA

6 to 40 Volt operating voltage (depending on the product also 7 - 42 Volt)

adjustable frequency over a wide range

simple control of the clock ratio

Adjustable in the break times, the cycle times and the frequency. Far more comfortable than any of the NE555 IC.
