          Re: HP Pavilion Laptop Motherboard Not Starting Up DA0R53MB6E1

          @venadillo, gone thru your PM. We can help but for that you need to start a thread with useful information. You have given practically no information.

          So, you confirm VREG3/VREG5 is present but no voltage on coil. Is that correct??

          If yes,Check the following

          01.PU12 IC-Pin20/17/15/13

          02.PU8-Pin5 Voltage??

          AD_ID voltage??

          Post these measurements and then will follow the progress.

          Btw, No DC Jack Light glowing??

            Re: HP Pavilion Laptop Motherboard Not Starting Up DA0R53MB6E1

            Hi, have almost the same issue, hp pavilion g6, DA0R53MB6E0, with AC in, after click on pwr button, led blinking 3 times, no power on.

            Here are some measurements:
            vin 19.2
            vin on PU7 16 pin = 2.5v
            VREG5 = 0.008v
            VREG3 = 1.7v
            ENABLE = 0V
            POWERGOOD = 0V
            ENTRIP1 = 0.01V
            ENTRIP2 = 0V

            Additionally when AC in, I can feel with my finger that PU12 discharge IC is pretty hot.

            Could someone please advice on this, thanks

              Check the Resistance to GND of the Enables and the outputs (VREG3, VREG5, Phase1 and Phase2) around PU7. Maybe already something supsicious to measure there.

                PU7, pin16-VIN-must be 19V. Are you measuring the pin correctly. the dot mark on the IC is pin1 and next pins in anti-clockwise fashion.

                  Re: HP Pavilion Laptop Motherboard Not Starting Up DA0R53MB6E1

                  I've just double-checked:
                  PU7, pin16 - 2.5v

                  GND to:
                  VREG3 = 105 kOhm
                  VREG5 = 10 Ohm
                  PHASE1 = 10 kOhm
                  PHASE2 = 9.3 kOhm
                  ENABLE = infinite

                  Anything else I can check?
                  PQ50, PQ53 pins 5/6/7/8 = 19.7v, while schematic says there should be 5v.
                  PQ51, PQ52 = no voltage
                  PL24, PL25 = no voltage
                  pr245, white resistor = 2.9v

                  resistance to gnd:
                  PL24, rising from 10 to 12 kOhm
                  PL25, falling from 12 to 9.5 kOhm
                  PC74 = 10 Ohm

                    We have Multiple or another fault present here. Check resistance to GND of Pin16, too

                    One fault might be there or a burned PR110

                    The thing with PQ50 and PQ53 is your wrong interpretation of the Drain designation and missing understanding of how a buck converter works.

                      VREG5 is shorted but first need to fix VIN of PU7. No point troubleshooting PU7 unless VIN is fixed. PQ50/53-@sephiroth has already highlighted your misunderstanding-its correct at 19V. Do follow his suggestions and check resistance to GND on PR124-any pin. PR124 is located just after dc-in mosfets.

                        PR 110 resistance is 0.460 kOhm
                        Resistance PU7 pin 16 to the ground is not stable, during the measure it fell from ~6 mOhm to 3 mOhm and keeps falling.
                        Same for PR124 - gnd, it falling from >10 mOhm to 3 mOhm and below, like if capasitor is loosing it's charge.

                        Anything else I can check? appreciate your answers

                          PR10 is supposed to have 10Ohms internal resistance, so it has failed open. Likely caused by a bad PU7. For VREG5 you could inject 1V and see whether PU7 is getting hot or something else. Should be enough proof then to finally remove it afterwards.

                            Yes, replace PR10 as suggested with rated value and then remove PU7 from the board(dont put power while PU7 is removed). Check resistance on VREG5 again after removing PU7.

                                  Changed pr110 to 10 Ohm resistor and removed PU7

                                  Resistance to gnd:
                                  VREG5 = 0.86 megaohms
                                  VREG3 = 410 kOhms

                                  Anything else I should check or proceed with installing new PU7?

                                      Still not starting.

                                      Vin on PU7 = 19.7v
                                      VREG3 = 3.3v
                                      VREG5 = 5.2v
                                      PWRGOOD = 0v
                                      PHASE1 = 0V

                                      ENABLE 0V
                                      LGATE1 = 0V
                                      LGATE2 = 0V
                                      UGATE1 = 0V
                                      UGATE2 = 0V
                                      BOOT1 = 4.5V
                                      BOOT2 = 4.5V

                                      PU12 is still getting hot, pin 15 ACIN on it has 0.005v, pr175 has 19.7v on one pin and 2.3v on another pin that is closer to PU12

                                      led is blinking 3 times and thats all. Please advice

                                        PU12 pins:
                                        20 VIN = 19.0V
                                        17 VOUT = 20.4V
                                        15 ACIN = 0.005V
                                        13 12VALW = 11.8

                                        PU8
                                        pin 5 ACPRES = 0.005v
                                        pin 6 ACDET 2.8V
