Found this at the dump yesterday, just had to grab it.
Got home and saw it got a really good review, I got really fired up as it came out quite good.
Fired it up and port 7-8 and 9 were not working.
Opening the box I see Stone caps , all 8 1500uF 6.3V Xs had popped.
Nice, had just bought a new facom iron and new stannol solder.
Ripped them out and fitted FL 1500uF 6.3V, removed the 470uF and fitted two Kze. The 3 other stone 1500uF I will replace later, they did measure 1500uF.
All of the 8 Xs measured about 260-350uF.
I'm rather amazed Linksys sells this as a 'small business' switch and use capacitors of really low quality, also the firmware should have been updated my now. Last update was 11/SEP/2007.
So, now all ports work but the interface is rather slow - seems this is 'normal' according to other users. Almost impossible to use firefox, seems it only like Internet Exploder 6.
As of now it does not reboot after a few minutes or loose connections.
The box has alot of features, after christmas I will hook it up to my network and see if it performs.
Anyone of you that have used this model ?
