Re: Proscan 55LC55S240v69
Update: Yes, it WAS a silly question! I have since found photos of the internals of the 55” Proscan posted by other owners and I see no cable/harness between the points I was asking about. So, I did get that question answered.
The latest news on my Proscan: It is now up and running fine. It had not previously stayed on any longer than 10 minutes before going into the shutdown/cycling/screen flashing mode. I have run it for over 8 hours now without a single hiccup.
Thank you gsmy and budm for pointing me to capacitor C857. Very close inspection of C857 showed that it had some slight discoloration on one end and that the blue coating had split slightly. Don't know what the ESR should be for this cap, but mine measured 38, both in-circuit and stand-alone.
I couldn't find the exact capacitor from my favorite local parts supplier, so I took an equivalent metalized polypropylene film capacitor out of a PSA from a Samsung with a broken display that I had around. The part was marked:
PILKOR MMKP WK 10 25, 68n 1000V.
This cap has an ESR of 18. Installed it in the Proscan and voilà! Like I said, the Proscan has been working fine for many hours so far.
Thanks again everyone who has contributed to this Forum!
