    What cap should replace this?

I have this little speaker set that use a couple of AA batteries, it has a Cheng 100uf 16v cap that is 5mm wide and 7mm tall; given the quality of these i want to replace it when i replace the flaky power switch
any recommendations on what cap i should get?

this switch is being really hard to find, pin spacing looks to be 3mm

    Hello evilkitty,
You just need to use a standard capacitor and NOT an ESR or high ripple type.
You need to look for a 105º TK-R type or similar. Dimensions would need to be the same or smaller.

Is that cap connected between GND and the VCC to run the IC? If it is then it just a simple filter cap, LOW ESR or high ripple rating cap is not going to hurt and damage circuit, it is not switching power supply, right? just running off the 3V batteries so why would low ESR or high ripple be matter?
Find out how that cap is connected in the circuit.

What is the reason for 'NOT an ESR or high ripple type'?

You would need a low esr capacitor if you had a switching power supply. In your case, you don't, the audio amplifier IC is powered directly from batteries so the capacitor is used as a plain "energy reservoir", to make it easier for the batteries.
The amplifier chips will pull energy in bursts, depending on the input sound so the capacitor just helps the batteries.

A general purpose or just low esr (not very low , ultra low etc) capacitor will be fine. You could also replace it with slightly bigger value like 120 / 150 / 220 / 270 / 330 uF without affecting anything.
I'd suggest Panasonic FC or something similar.

          Here's a refined list (100-330uF 16..35v , pick whatever can fit inside) : https://www.digikey.com/short/q3vw8v

Personally, I'd go with Rubycon YXG / YXJ / ZLH or Nichicon HE or United Chemi Con KY or Panasonic FC (whatever i pull out from the box of spare capacitors in the 100-330uF range)
