Check the large resistor and if it is not open, you might be able to solder back to the leads where you cut them, or add some wire around the leads and still use it
I don't know where you got that resistor number The value is 0.47 ohm 10watt 5%
This is the closest I could find here:
CPC number is RE06460, Welwyn W24-0R47 JI You may need to check its dimensions to see if it will fit
    RS 666-1692 (C10R47JL) (min quantity 5)

The triac is STP16A60 There is another number after the `6' (16 amp 600 volt triac)
This Sanken number looks close TMA166G-L
    or Renesas BCR16CM-12LB

      this one

will the new one above replace the STP16A60 Bi-Directional Triode Thyristor
      Repetitive Peak Off-State Voltage : 600V
      ◆ R.M.S On-State Current ( IT(RMS)= 16 A )
      ◆ High Commutation dv/dt
      ◆ Non-isolated Type

No That is a mosfet NOT a TRIAC (Thyristor)
        I would try BTA16-600BRG (714-0502)
        https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/semic...834,4294856821
        Or BTB16-600B (251-2993)

          well well well Guys

I got me parts today 1-2 hours soldering 3 bits on

The Makita worked, Then i tried again didnt work and again didnt work again worked, again worked!

Im not sure if the switches are dodgy? what do you guys think?> or do caps and resistors need breaking in???

i will keep testing and let you know how it goes here are the 3 x new parts ive used!

could be the switch, if your carefull you can open them and inspect the contents.

It is very likely that the fault is the switch. that could be all that was wrong. You could check the voltage across the terminals when it is not working. It looks like a dpdt so if either part of the switch is intermitint it won't operate.

                Re: Makita 440 Cap types?

bypass switch and turn on at power point . dont run it too long with 100 ohm 9 watt resistor instead of 0.47 ohm 10 watt

RS 666-1692 is 470mΩ ...then op used 100 ohm ... best regroup me thinks ...

                    dam guys im GUTTED!!!!!!!!

Switched on today first time in 3 days and smoke out of switch area! i hate being defeated after many hours!

Might have to spend the £50 on the new board $75

As my soldering wasnt perfect and did i choose the wrong parts???

sad day for the makita 440

                        GUYS

You helped me a lot, so had to let you all know that after buying new carbon brushes, then a new circuit board, to fine out that it was the god darn switches

Its okay now, i inspected the old switches and they were contaminated inside with dirt, you wouldnt think a normal on/off switch would of been the fault!

                        oh dear

anyway guys thanks for all your help!!!!!!!!!!

At-least you've now got spares for future repairs, put them in storage and hope something else fails!
