    help flashing asrock h97 pro4

    hello

    i have an asrock h97 pro4
    with MXL25L12873F chip

    im using ch341

when i load the rom that i downloaded from the official product page
its says that the file length is beyong range.

but the chip and the file both 16mb, so whats the problem ?

also there is a secure otp tab (which is empty)

    any help will be appreciated

    thanks!

Extract UEFI capsule body using UEFITool and flash it onto the chip.

      thanks for quick reply,

tried ur method and it didnt work.
on the verify part it says "Chip with the contents are in disagreement"
(also got the same error before the extraction)

maybe someone can provide known working rom please ?

or any other ideas will help

      thanks

          thanks.

got the same disagreement error with ch341 software.

with asProgramer it flashed without errors.

but motherboard still doesnt work, so i guess its dead.
(it was declared dead anyway, i just decided to try my luck to revive it by reflashing it)

or is there anything else i can try ?

You haven't described the symptoms, the history of the board, the troubleshooting steps you've taken, the parts you are using…

                hello

i tried many cpus, ram, reflashing and it didnt help.
and i dont know where and what to measure.
i didnt see any physical damage on the board or components.

the problem is: its just powers on and off instant and does is inifintly (in a loop)
(fan spins for half a sec as it gets power)
i have a POST card but it only shows 0000 for half a second until its shuts down.
and i dont have the history of the board.

                any help would be appreciated

Heres a boardview, plus a wordpress article to help you identify some parts.

While the board is bootlooping touch the IC`s and mosfets around the board, check if anything is getting very hot.

                          checked. nothing hot.
and i dont think something can get very hot cuz its restarts instantly..
                          even after many loops..

Have you checked the cpu socket pins carefully to make sure none are bent or missing .

                                hello again
i started to test the capacitors.
but not sure if i did it right or if its needed.

first i tested for short with beeper on the multimeter and then selected 20k ohms and touched the cap and saw the resistance go up.

the "shorted" (that beeped) caps didnt show any resistance change.

and there were some caps the wasnt "shorted" but also didnt show any resistance change.

                                so:
                                1. can i rely on this tests ?
                                2. if the resistance go up its means its charging and its the cap is good ?
                                3. and what does it say about the not shorted caps that dont "charge" ?

                                sorry about my noobness

                                thanks in advance

As long as code "0000" or "FFFF" is displayed by four-bit-code POST card, the code
"0000" or "FFFF" is "initiative code". It is no need for you to make a judgment by unaided eye
whether there have been some other codes varying before it stops at the code "0000" or
                                  "FFFF".
