Hello all. Long story short (no pun intended) someone gave me this TV and it kept blowing fuses. This started after a lightning storm. Using this link for reference, I learned the "light bulb" trick and also learned that a bad diode may be the culprit.
So I ordered a replacement, threw it in there, and the light bulb began blinking rapidly for 5 seconds, dimmed for 2, then repeated.
Following this service bulletin, I removed the newly replaced diode and the light bulb stayed dark. I threw a fuse in and it didn't blow but I didn't see a picture. Put the diode back in and voila! Another rescued TV!
Congrats to budm! Another saved TV!
