    Backlight to repair LED panels

Hi everybody. I am looking for ideas on how to go about designing and building a box wherein there will be a relatively uniform light shining out of it and onto some kind of surface whether it be a diffuser sheet i don't know. I need to start repairing panel faults where you bridge missing voltages on the side COF IC's. So you need to see what you are doing ,the panel would be placed on this lighting box upside down so that you can get to the side cof ic testing points but still need to see what you are doing hence the backlight.
    Any ideas?

So a box with a clear plastic sheet on the top with LEDs underneath.
Broken tv parts or make one using a cut up roll of LEDs and a power supply.
A piece of paper on the reverse of the plastic will diffuse the light.

Or maybe a tv whose led panel is cracked, we remove the panel and reassemble the set.
Use the tv to diffuse the light that way?
