Tell me if this is glue, I don't think so

I was brought a Zomodo DVR box to see if I could fix it for a friend. He forgot to bring the power supply, but I opened it anyway.

It looks like the thing exploded.

What do you think?

I like the sound of that. He said it doesn't fire up, but I to wait till Monday to get the power supply.
The spec says it needs a 12v 3A supply, but the only 12v I have in stock is just 500ma, 400ma, 300ma and a 200ma.

I took a molex connector and put a female jack on it. Then made a pig tail with 2 male ends and use my pc to power my router. Was cheaper than buying a wall wart. Local radio shack had all the parts.

i have a dozen or more cables made up with a fuse block right to my 12v buss to the solar battery bank.the dvr,cameras,router,and cable modem run right off this.its all on an infinite ups.
items i keep are selected to work on a loosly regulated 12v source.
10-16v without issues.put a 1tb laptop hdd in the dvr since the 12v line is right off the incoming power.they only need 5v.

i get 4a 12v psu's from written-off tv's & monitors.

Got the power supply today, the HD is toasted.
