    Chip Cap ID Needed

This item is on a Dell Inspiron e1505 Lappy. we replaced the bad MOSFET
that shorted out and took this with it, having hard time identifying this since we do not have smart tweezers and schematics on most if not all notebooks are not on paper.

looking at pic to the left about one inch would be main battery connector

Took me a while to figure it out too, so I understand.

I have no idea what that part is.
Maybe if you can trace the circuit and draw it out that might help to figure it out.

That's ceramic capacitor. around 50V and appox 1uF depending on technology used in this cap.

Take another similar-looking cap from dud board. Be gentle, brittle material.

                            Cheers, Wizard

Thank you Wizard that pic is of another cap of same color and size, the bad one was under this one that we removed already.

just need to be sure what value it is. as far as dud board no luck in finding one yet

i am fairly new to electronic troublshooting, curious to find out how you knew this cap went down as you did not know what this component was,did it show up physically damaged or what, grateful for your help.

Could be slightly smaller or bit larger as long as it can fit on that pads and solder it down from another board. I do this all the time for these bypass capacitors if one cracked or burnt out.

                                  Cheers, Wizard

Hey Bobdee, as a hobby i repair notebooks among other electronics down to component level parts learned this buy looking watching doing asking reading lots of reading for about 10 or so years now, i find it relaxing for the most part.
though i do have most tools of the trade; not all Yet

As for this particular chip cap thats eluding me as what it's value is, (nothing new Here) its inline with charging circuit so when it failed after mosfet shorted out it opened with little color change. this is where smart tweezers come in handy. its a great field to be in and very rewarding only i'm not the classroom type in this area my down fall i guess doing is better for me.
