Muskoka 35" curved fireplace power supply.

My fireplace stoppe working a week ago. It does not turn off anymore.

I believe something in its power supply blown. I tested it with my multimeter and capacitor meter. the 2 450v 10 micronF geve a reading of 19micronF each. I have tested the resistors and 2 of them give me a short but I am not sure as my multimeter is rubbish as I believe it does not read resistors that low in resistance.

    Can anyone please help me?

"It does not turn off anymore" So you do not hear the power relay click?
Check the relay contact between point A' and point 'B' to see if it stuck closed.

Sorry, I meant "it does not turn ON anymore". I thought about the relay, what do you mean "stuck close"? I tested it with a multimeter and it gives a reading.

When I press the on button it just does not turn on.

Actually when I test it the way you pointed out , the multimeter does not show anything.

Shouldn't the relay be energized in order to test it? Should I remove it from the pcb with my soldering iron?

""it does not turn ON anymore"" OK, if the relay contact stuck close then it will supply the voltage to the load all the time, but now you cleared out the confusion and saying it does not turn on any more then we just have to look at other section, started with the power supply section first.

It did not close. There is a switch which signals the ignition to the power supply. If the board does not turn on, how am I going to energize the relay in order to test it?Should I desolder it?

OK, we need good clear picture of the bottom side of the power supply board, and the P/N of the SMPS IC5.
So you did you put the suspected bad resistors back place?

Really? Which question are you referring to? I did ask for the pictures of the bottom side of the board so I can trace the circuits to find the test points for testing. I am not going to tell you to jump the relay contact without knowing what that relay is being used for, for example for supplying High voltage AC to the load or low voltage DC to the load, what kind of load it is.

Without having the board in front of me and without the pictures of BOTH SIDES of the board to see what the function of the components are to verify if the power supply is functioning or not is the first step to take. Do you really want to bypass something without knowing and understanding what it does first?
You learn by taking logical step by step to narrow down to the component level.

So provide GOOD CLEAR AND WELL FOCUSED PICTURE of the bottom side of the board so I/WE can give to you the test pints to find out if the power supply is working or not, also provide the pictures that show how this contraption are wired together to all the parts/boards.

This is the question I asked you 2/3 times.

I do not hear any click in the relay, but since the power goes in the top of the relay, I am quite scared to put the two probes at the bottom.

Re: Muskoka 35" curved fireplace power supply.

The relay is not energized, that is why we have to find out what circuit drives the relay coil. and since the power supply is dead, then the relay will not function.
Right now we do not know if the switching power supply is working or not, so I need the P/N of the SMPS IC5 to get the specsheet to check and see if it is getting the VCC to run or not.
You will be making Voltage measurement in the Primary deadly side of the circuit, if you are scared to make the measurement then there is not much we can do.
It is the step by step process, first we need to find out if the power supply is alive or not, how the fir place function, where are the safety/lock-out/sensors switches are which can be the reason it is not functioning.
Right now we need to find out if you do have 330VDC (measure between the two legs of the 10uF 450VDC) for the SMPS IC5 to run or not, so take that reading and report what you get, be real careful not to let the probes slip on you and do not touch anything with your hands!

Oh dear, you are very professional , mate!

Well , the model is Muskoka MHC35BL, the relay is the GOLDEN GK-C-1A-12D.

For the IC ones, I will need a magnifier which I cannot find at the moment. The letters are black and small, I will post it tomorrow.

                                      Cheers for your help!

"GOLDEN GK-C-1A-12D" The relay 1 I can see that as printed on top, but the smaller one relay 2 next to the RELAY1, I cannot see the printing on it to get the pinout.
I also need you some how to take the pictures so I can see what the board is connected to, I have no idea as to what "UPLIGHT", "FLAME", "SIDE", "REMOTE" are.
Fake flame is actually lamp? It must have a blower motor too which I think it has one of the motor wire connected to that big relay?
