Re: Laptop totally dead, where to start?

    Hi dj ricoh, long time.

    Sorry, I do not understand.
Given the data as it is so far, where do I inject and which voltage?
And what is a continuity test?

New measurements on PU19< With PL6 still unsoldered
Picture 1 with the standard values and picture 2 with the values after pressing on/off switch. Led from switch turns off after 3 seconds, but the voltage stays 30 seconds

      trace it. Continuity test

      a SVF15 and SVF14 one Hour both.
found a short, injected voltage and found what was bad
The continuity test I get now. Didn't know the English word.

The other question is still there, but the question is in fact: Which Voltage?
The +1_5VSUS looks to make the problem, or the DCBATOUT too.
So, what is the next step.

Now when I connect the power, PU13 gets very hot, (PL6 still desoldered).
        I see on pin 8,9, 10 = 19,19 V and pin 10 is going to PL6 and then to the +1_5VSUS.
This 19,9V can not be good there, where does it come from.

I want to learn, can one of you Pro's pls help me out?

1.5 volt are related with ram. remove ram slot and see if pc power and stay on.

                    Pffffffeeeewww, that's a re-leave. Would be a big job.

With or without ram module no difference.

bicalov if you have a components in short , in this moment , its not the best moment to make test on the board , first replace pu13 since its 1.5vsus and 3.3valw is attached there , could take you to wrong ideas , tps51218 you can find them on recent board with pch or ddr3 , look carefully on board you might got there , you must get lucky in finding one

any pads shorted to ground on PL6?
Just cook it! It's already broken.

Tried everything but no luck. Took a long time to find components, could not find PC190. It can be located in the schematics where is is connected to, but not on the board.
I also have problem to locate the rest of the rail. sorry and thanks for your help

Re: Laptop totally dead, where to start?

Followed short to GPU with voltage injection.
Now it stops, because I don't have the equipment to change it.
Maybe the short is not in the GPU, but in the many capacitors. Regretfully this can't be checked, because there are no markings on the board and you need a boardview, which is not available.

Thread can close now, thank you guys for the input
