    Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW - Flashes

    Hi everyone.

I've got a problem with my SyncMaster 2253LW.
I've recorded a video so it's easy for you to see.

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB8DV3iwMzs

It will do those flashes when gaming or regular use and it's not my graphics card because i've tested it on another monitor.

    Peace

Not going to be able to test much without a mutimeter.

Does it make any difference if you change the resolution or reduce the brightness

Try disconnecting and reconnecting all cables.

While you are in thre take some good clear pictures - One of the whole of the set then
        one of each board

It doesnt affect ifi change the brightness or resolution or even if i change cables.
When i get a multimeter i will open my screen and take some photos.
I'll do it in a few days. Thanks

just by looking at the caps i didn't see anything wrong aside from the 4th pic showing a cap that is starting to leak.

Not leaking that is just flux
Report back when you have a meter - if this is a one off fixing just a cheap one will do.

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW - Flashes

Ok - can you get at the green torpedo fuse when it is all set up?
If so test the voltage at that fuse - meter on vDC200 - depending on the result
you might be able to lower to 20vDC . Keep the probe in place and see if it varies as the monitor goes off/on/off Black probe on chassis ground.

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW - Flashes

There are lots more tests - I thought others would have chipped in by now.
Next is BIG cap Carefull HIGH VOLTAGE. Set meter on vDC600 and test
across the legs. Hold to see if it varies with the on/off/on.

If that is steady then next would be the two inverter section caps- one above the green fuse and the one above that - should be the same type.
Set meter on cDC200 - may be difficult to get at

We do not have a good clear picture of the back of the power board, I am thinking could be a bad solder joint - dont look great in the section.

Does the fault come on straight from a cold switch on or does it start after a few minutes?
I dont think there is much wrong just needs more tests if you have time.

just to make sure you tested the fuse right black probe on chassis ground and test voltage to one side of the fuse then then test other side.

Its very ramdom. I cant replicate the fault when ever I want.

The big cap doesnt output any reading, monitor on or off. The next two caps give me a reading of 13.2. I've tested all the caps and the only one the doesn't give me any reading is the one I thought it was leaking. The one in the picture above.
