Heh, I just found my AR-3 causes random nuisance tripping of one of my GFCIs. I was wondering why the GFCI started tripping ... until I realized that Heathkit AR-3 was a new addition to that leg.

I noticed that I can get some small sparks if I touch the antenna ground wire connector on the AR-3 to a ground. I suspect I should take a look at the isolation there, it may still be 'normal'...

Just check the leakage current to see how high it is.

Looks like it uses two 0.02uF capacitors to the chassis, so that should be less than 1mA RMS -- should be in the acceptable region of the GFCI... that is, if they don't resistively leak (good Y-caps?) or if there's something else on the line that's also leaking...
