      I have read your proposal which is much appreciated. I actually have most of the parts you mentioned but I need to find the time and energy to clean out my components drawers. in reality I am leaning more towards a digital adjustable power supply. but I will try the current one as it is just to see what it gives of course I will add a transformer for testing

        The power supply that have current control are the best option for testing devices with
        I have several of them and are well worth the money

        But if you are looking for something that might work for you try something like this

        One note the adjustment pots can be replace with multiple turn panel mount pots for easy voltage and current adjustments

        You could also try this one note this version does not have current control but is setup for transformer output nothing needs to be add to function

        Here is another option this one also does not have current control but you can also convert one of the LM317 to current mode

        These two repairs where found with a ESR meter...> Temp at 50*F then at 90*F the ESR reading more than 10%

        1 Over Head Crane Current Sensing Board ( VFD Failure Five Years Later )
        2 Hem Saw Computer Stack Board

        All of these had CAPs POOF
        All of the mosfet that are taken out by bad caps

          Hi Sam and thanks for the support. yes how this has happened : probably a very bad soldering pencil without knowing it because I absolutely could not unsolder them blue Trimmer Potentiometer and I became obsessed to push them down with the soldering tip then it was a hell to free the holes yes that's what happened 2years ago

            yes it is good and cheap with 20amp but it measures from 06v or does it go to lower v measurement ? what do you think of this :XYS3580 WIFI Adjustable Buck Boost Converter DC 6V-36V 5A Power Supply Module but it only goes to 5amp
