msi ms-7616 mainboard bad bios flash

hi i have problem with msi ms-7616 mainboard (medion pc). i updated the bios and now it hangs at bios screen. it doesn't continue to boot. i see bios screen with

    initializing usb controllers...done
    2040mb OK

help. i have older bios version, it is a .10F file. the original bios is 4 mb size, the correct .10F file is 2 mb. i don`t understand this
i tried to flash the 2 mb .10f file but the pc was dead then.

sounds like you got the wrong image.
hopefully it has a bad flash recovery trick.
if not time to pull the e/eeprom and use a programmer.

Kinda gives me a longing for the good ol' i8086/80286 days when BIOS chips were socketed.

u need a correct bios set up for that...reflash again using a corrent bios firmware for that.

              hi

i desoldered the chip and flashed with a programmer, but the pc has a black screen then.

              http://www.medion.com/nl/service/_li...s.php?did=8685

maybe it is not the correct bios file?

                Re: bad bios flash

Try going back....to before you unsoldered the chip
Then flash with the appropriate flash bios program and correct bin file.
Ahh ......that would break the laws of time !
Most soldered eproms have a couple of access pcb tracks to facilitate on board serial programming.
Maybe Bin... is the correct term

I'm usually not the person to tell you to buy a new one instead of repairing it, but these chis often cost a few $ pre-programmed.

                    Hi
The problem is that the update is not a full update it has no Me region. look all ffffff in the first half ..you need to merge the original file first 1,048576 to the update and save it then total size should be 2,097152 so then it will be the same has the original ..if you don't know how to do it i will do it for you ...now if fans ,or it boot and cycle's off then i will rebuild the me region for you.

                      Techman1025 youre a hero!

Combined the original me and the update (makes 4mb in this case)
Here are the H55 and P55 versions with ME region added!

Works for me on msi ms-7616 mainboard (P55 in my case)

You need to back up original bios file first using a external programmer like a TL866-A after that you would upload your original file here i will rebuild it for your you machine then reupload it for your laptop then you would reflash chip with my fixed bios done.

You could throw in these converted bios again because the link is no longer active

I've messed up a BIOS flash before, to be fair if you actually email the manufacturer they'll be able to supply you with a replacement chip for you to fit yourself. It's the easiest thing to do and they'll preflash it for you. I think Asus charged me about £15 a few years ago and it arrived in a couple of days, then I just fitted it myself.
