    Intel D915GAG in Gateway 500GR

I inherited this dead system from a client who bought a new one. P4/530 at 3.0 GHz, SATA, good stuff.

I recapped the leaking Nichicon HM with Rubycon I had in stock. This brought the board mostly back to life. It does have a gremlin still in place, as the machine completely freezes at random times. It does this both in CMOS setup, and W2000AS.

Moving the mouse does move the cursor on the screen, which by itself tells me there is a huge amount of intelligence still alive in the operating system (no obvious jokes please).

I didn't recap the 16v/1200uF Nichicon HM around the processor, due to not having stock for the job. I sent an order to Topcat, to see if I can get a dozen of these.

Q: has anybody seen a pure freezeup where the mouse still works?

I assume you checked the power supply? Gateway used to use good Delta PSU's, but I'm not sure about the newer ones.

Also run Memtest86 and see what you get.

There is a boatload of LDF (little dinky f*ckers) on this board. Doyawant me to replace all those under 470uF?
