    Display stand spring tension

Is there any way to adjust the tension of the suspension springs in these monitors? Or, are they "custom designed" for the weight of the monitor they are tasked with supporting?

    what monitors?
i know the older HP stands had springs that more than matched the monitor and they where held back so-to-speak by bolts with nylon-liocking nuts to act like a friction brake.

ANY monitor (with an adjustable stand).

It appears that the stands are unalterably mated to their particular monitors (e.g., a stand for a small monitor will never support the weight of a larger one).

[I'm always leary of "unwinding" springs without knowing what to expect]
