Recapped the inverter and the main control PCB
Phy. inspection of main control PCB finds thermally damaged U9,
a 24C16 SO8 Memory IC SMT. This has a whole burnt in it!
The part is a ST 24C16, a 16 Kbit Serial I2C Bus EEPROM with User-Defined Block Write Protection
see further http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe...ICS/24C16.html
As I understand it, this will contain the firmware for the VDU.
I have obtained the service manual from Proview (in the UK).
However, the service manual which describes the part is labelled
for use with the Gericom/Proview CY-765, that is, the 17 inch model.
My presumption is thus, the main control pcb is the same for
the 17 and 19 inch models but they require power bricks with
different current loads i.e. the 17 inch requires a 4A, the 19
inch, a 5A.
I have purchased a 12V 6A brick for test purposes.
However, it may remain the case, the control pcb is for the 17 inch
model only and the incorrect control pcb has been placed in the
unit.
Are any forum members familiar with this type?
Moreover, prior to replaing the EEPROM, I believe I will require the firmware
to program the new part.
Can anybody help?
Thx
