    Re: Rca RLED4010A power supply

    connector 1

    GND/GND/+5V/+5V/PS/empty/+5V/+5V/GND/GND/GND/+12V/+12V

    connector 2

    +24/+24/GND/GND

    connector 3

    +24/+24/+24/+24/GND/GND/CON7/CON7

    connector 4

    24/24/24/24/24/gnd/gnd/gnd/gnd/gnd/NC/ONOFF/ADJ/NC

On stanby mode,i get voltage(5V) at the 'ps' pin on the connector 1 only.

At power on,i get the good voltage to every connector, beside the connector 4 that don't receive 24v at the fifth pin but there is no wire connected there so i guess it's ok.

What DC voltage do you get at that ONOFF (this is the backlights ON/OFF control pin) pin?

        Re: Rca RLED4010A power supply

I get no dc voltage reading on both standby and power on mode.

I diden't checked that area because there was no value on the board.I got
5v on the ADJ pin at power on.

          Re: Rca RLED4010A power supply

OK, that means the main board is not sending the ON signal. The ADJ (DIMMING signal) is being sent from the main board. What you can try is to disconnect the wire to the ONOFF pin by removing the pin from the socket or cut the wire (but leave it long enough for you to be able to splice it back together), then use 470~1000 Ohms resistor between the ONOFF pin and the 5V to see if you can force on the 24V and the backlights. At this point I not 100% sure if the 24V will be on when the PS_ON is present or when ONOFF is present, so check the 24V output. If it still does not have 24V output, then you have more than one problem: the 24V power supply and the main board problems. I believe you do have two problems.

            Re: Rca RLED4010A power supply

            Thanks for your help,!

I just want to be sure that i got it right. After cutting the onoff wire to disable it, i take a resistor 470-1000 ohm and jump the onoff and adj(5v)pin to see if the screen will light?

I dont have access to a resistor right now, i will get one and post the results.

I removed the onoff/adj connector from the main board to check if there is voltage on the pins at power on.When to red probe touch the onoff pin i could here the hissing sound(coming from the transformer) go down and the reading was 5v.When i removed the probe the sound came back.Could it be a bad wire?

            Have a great chrismas everyone!

              Re: Rca RLED4010A power supply

Is the hissing sound coming from that black transformer that generates the 24VDC?

Yes it is coming from the black transformer on the psu.

                  Re: Rca RLED4010A power supply

So it does not hiss if the probe of the meter is not touching the onoff pin? Also if it hissing, that means the transformer is being driven. Can you try one more thing, disconnect the wires attach to the LED driver board, the one just above the power supply board then see if you will get 24VDC at the power supply board connector?

Ok i got my hands on a resistor and i tried to jump the adj and onoff pin at
The connector to force the current but i dosen't open the screen.I get 24v everywhere
                    too.

For the hissing sound, the tranformer hiss as soon as i plug
the unit.I did recheck and find out that i was touching
the onoff and 12v pin, that stopped the sound, but as soon
as i remove the probe it gets noisy again.

I removed the connector that goes to the inverter board
and i get 24v at the psu board.I notice that at standyby, the hissing sound was
Gone, but at power on or came back.

                      Re: Rca RLED4010A power supply

At standby mode, the 24V should not be present so you will not hear hissing sound, when TV is turn on, the main board will send the PS_ON to turn on the 24V, at the same times it also sends the BL_ON (ONOFF) and the Dimming (ADJ) to turn on the LED driver board.
So let me get this straight, if you disconnect the cable from the power supply that feed the LED driver board, the 24V is present (PS_ON is present) but it is making hissing sound, and if you connect the cable to the LED DRIVER board back in place, the 24V will disappear.

I'm sorry about the confusion.Tbh,i have very limited
Knowledge in electronics and to addon i have some

is not my first language.I really appreciate your help and
                        patience.

I need to know what ps_on and bl_off is cause i'm confuse.

At standyby mode, there is still no readings beside the 5v on one connector.

I have the same TV and I have similar tension.
even after the test with the resistor 1000 ohms, I have no screen or no sound can you guide me to find or is the problem.

                                Hi Luigi64:

If you used 1000ohm resistor to try and turn on the backlight, the backlight should have turned on...

However, the power supply and DC-DC LED backlight driver board are not the common failure mode for this model of RCA TV (RLED4010A).

I have two - both show a red standby light which turns blue when you press the power button on the TV or remote control. However the TV doesn't turn the backlights on or display an image. You cannot turn the TV off without unplugging it.

The issue is a faulty or corrupted 8-pin SOIC EEPROM chip on the mainboard. A new chip needs to be programmed with the TV's firmware and re-installed. My EEPROM chips are both Winbond 25Q32FVSIG.

You can try heating the IC with a hair dryer or cooling the IC with freeze spray and then plugging in the TV while hot or cold and see if the TV will turn on.

I seem to have all the required voltages from the mp118T to the inverter, the backlight flashes briefly. The inverter board is SLL320 0e1a and its driven by the SSL110. Any help from the forum greatly appreciated

                                        Hi:

Yes, replacing the EEPROM with a new IC, and re-programming the original firmware was successful in repairing both of my 40" RCA RLED4010A TVs.

I previously uploaded the firmware for this TV to the EEPROM thread on this website:
