    Re: Vizio E500AR No Power

With 20V DC and probes touching where illustrated I still have a reading of 0.

Is there a separate 5V standby or were you referencing the 3.3V?

TV that 'appears' dead.... and for all intents and purposes is?

I imagine that with nothing connected the issue would then be with the PSB?

STBY voltages is 3.3 in some TV's and 5V in others. Go by what is on your board, prolly says STBY_5V or similar?

It appears dead, but there is voltage present not detectable without service. If it were totally dead the main AC fuse would be popped.

The stand-by circuit upon the power supply board is faulty, at a minimum.

At this point you are looking at either component repair upon the current power supply or replacing it with a good one. Have you ever done component repair on electronics?

                Re: Vizio E500AR No Power

I've done a few charging ports on laptops and whatnot, but given I just bought the board I'm going to do my best to work out getting a functioning board from the seller.

My soldering equipment is also of the lowest quality, so there's that.

I genuinely appreciate the help! I'll update the thread whenever I have something to report.

There are a lot of good people on this site who's help comes from the heart. They sure don't do it for the money or entertainment value! lol We would appreciate an update when you have one and good luck with the seller!

Yes, I would try to get seller refund first. Do u see any voltage across UM 1,5,6,7? After the power supply board is plugged to 110 ac for 10 min, what is the temp of those aluminum heat sinks?

Do you have 3.3 volts DC at the 3.3VSTB pin?
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

                          Re: Vizio E500AR No Power

Good news: Seller refunded both boards w/o me having to send them back.
New powerboard was half as much, so saved a bit of money there.

                          New powerboard works! Hell yeah!

Bad news: Picture isn't. (see picture of picture).

I tried both mainboards and both sets of ribbons (have two of each now) to no avail. The picture remains nearly unchanged (came through a little clearer but with the same fragmenting).

                          What's my next step?

Worth noting that I cleaned and looked over the LCD pretty damned closely with a flashlight during the first troubleshoot to ensure it wasn't damaged (to the best of my knowledge).

Is there any chance of replacing this ribbon? There's some mild creasing in the others but this one is ripped (and I'm assuming the burning is a result).

                                Replacing the panel?

Good chance I inflicted this damage when I took it apart all the way. Won't ever know, but lessons learned the hard way!

No, you are out of luck.
You need to buy the new screen, expensive.
