Re: HP dv7-7133nr No Video Problem Goya/Balen

If I inject 19v through the first mosfet, the first 3 pins of BQ24739, it get 18.5v. PC4016 has 3 volts, charger connector, pin 7 blow smoke if I inject on this capacitor once probed by DMM. I did not intended to inject on this capacitor on purpose btw. Also, having the first mosfet jumped causes spark to the DC IN charger. Any help would be appreciated.

AD+_IN= voltage power come from adapter.
DCBATOUT=DC or Battery output, come from battery if board install battery (as backup power), but mostly this TP (test poin) from adapter cause via Current Resistor. So ad+_in & dcbatout are power for system that feed for motherboard at first time connect via adapter or battery.

Mean AD+_IN / DCBATOUT shorted to GND, you must find what the causing that line shorted first.
Dont plug adapter or battery till shorted has gone.

For more understand labeling on wistron PCB with help BV of motherboard.

Ok, update I changed RT8223M (power controller) and RT8207MZQW (RAM voltage chip). I was only supposed change RT8223M first, but I changed RT8207MZQW as well because I thought it was the power controller, maybe the ram voltage chip could have been the reason for no display. After changing chips, the result of BQ738 legs are:

        1 OL
2 looks like it reads 10 ohms and steady drops to 1 ohm
        3 67 ohms
4 slowly reads ohms to at least 20 ohms and then says OL
        6 60 ohms

Result: I now have light on the charger DC-IN but no light on the POWER button and the board makes a strange noise and the light goes off after of couple of seconds.

ok alextech now test all this points you have to locate the area of strange noise also

Ok I checked the test points and I do not really here any noise anymore, perhaps it was just on the DC-IN plug. I did talk to somebody about this issue and thought maybe it is a diode issue? Here is the result:

            PU4006
            4: 19v

pin 17 spark reaction that's bad test the cap pc4118 for short test pin 17 without any power Ohm

Re: HP dv7-7133nr No Video Problem Goya/Balen

                PU4006 still has the jumper.
PR4001 pin 2 does not have voltage drop.
I checked cap pc4118 in continuity mode and one side beep and other side no beep. Should I read ohms instead? Positive side 1 ohm (drops slowly) and negative side 0.03 ohms. I checked pin 17 on PU4103 and its 1 ohm and drops slowly. Not sure if this cap is on short. I can try to see if it makes a difference with another cap. Yes pin 16 on PU4103 does have 19v.

UPDATE: I changed PC4118 and positive side read 0.03 ohms now, but everything else still remains the same.

Check on short between B+ PU4005 any short to Gnd, FETs
The jumper you have put PU4006 pin 5678 to 123 only? Pin 4 no jumper
Here are the measurements you should get on this pins made on BQ24738
                  PIN 1 19.19V
                  PIN 2 19.19V
                  PIN 3 19,19V

                  PIN 6 2,6V
                  PIN 16 6V
Change PU4103 it’s not working or bad soldering
as for PC4118 ONE side is GND and read 0.03 ohms next side may be the is short in side dont' chance every time SMD compenents with out knowing the value send a pic of the IC that you have change

I checked PU4005 pin 1-3 is random sometime 3 ohms and sometime 5 ohms. Pin 4 is OL and 5-8 is about 10 ohms. I don't understand why PU4103 is not working, I would have to order another one. Could there be another explanation why PU4103 is not working? What about PC4119, could that be the problem? Charger IC chip has correct voltage PU4005 pin 1-3 0v pin 4 9v and 5-8 0v. PC4119 0v.

as for PU4005 is a N-Channel Fet place the Red Probe in either of pin 123 pins Source side & Black Probe in either pin 5678 Drain side test Value & Black Probe in pin 4 Gate Red probe in Source either of pin 123 for Value & Black Probe in pin 4 Gate Red probe in Drain either of pin 5678 for Value
PU4005 pin 5678 is not good PR4001 is Connected with this Fet @ need help from another BADCAPS MEMBER FOR THIS @

                        red on 1 black on 4 - 5.92 ohms
red on 5 black on 4 -11.58 ohms

@techtiger, the schematics for Power Controller should be RT8223M not RT8223A.

                              The Light on Charger???

                              or

                              The Light on DC jack???

Check resistance on DCBATOUT (Test point=PR4001)respect to GROUND
Would be help if you also measure on all grey coils (PL4xxx)

Also I'm noticed your DMM probe still Thick, when you troubleshooting problem on laptop and other device that have lot tiny component you should use needle probe.

19V is fluctuating that's bad,PR4001 should be arround 470 Ohm, check you 2nd Mosfet pin 123 to 5678 reading shold be 470 to 500 Ohm, do you have the 1st Mosfet that removed if so remove the Jumper and put it back & check the Voltage back

Setting the meter in DIODE mode.
On the N-Channel FET place the NEG lead on Pin 6/7 and the POS lead on Pin 2/3. You should get a reading of some value ~100 to 500 , if you get Value pin 1 & 4 that’s bad take it out and test it again

On the N-Channel FET place the NEG lead on Pin 6/7 and the POS lead on Pin 2/3. You should get a reading of some value ~100 to 500 , if you get Value pin 1 & 4 that's bad take it out and test it again
I tested PU4602 and this is the only one that I found that has a reading of some value on pin 4. You said "pin 1", but pin 1-3 should be the same? All had value on 1. But here is the strange part, I took it off and it did not have value on the pin 4. What is going on here, this transistor is near where the short occurred. I checked the pin 4 on the board without the transistor it blinks 6.9 ohms and OL back and forth.

Ok I changed PU4602 and dont have reading on leg 4 anymore. But, PU4603 now has a reading of .000 on legs 1-4. Should I change this one now?
