Hay BUDM. I was able to find some resistors and forced the back lights on. Everything looks good. Thanks for helping. Now I know it's not in the display, I don't think away. Now what do I do.

I did as you said, using resistors. The back lights are working properly. Thanks for telling me how to check them. So now what do I do. There has to be a problem with the main board, right. What should I check now.

I joined this group to get some help with TVs,and I did. Even learning some key steps in trouble shooting. I feel like I been left hanging to figure out myself. Hope someone has some input and give me something to go on.

Since it has blown the fuse on the main board for the 5V supply, then you need to start tracing out the circuit on the main board to see which component show very very low resistance. Right now you have jumper in place of the fuse, right?
Finding diagram is the next step, fixing main board is not easy without the diagram. You can also test all the Voltage regulator ICs on that main board.

Thank you for responding. Not sure where to find diagram but ill see. Tracing from the fuse is confusing when you don't understand what components do and what their voltages should be. I see that's where a diagram comes in. Thanks again for the directions.

Yep, that 5V supply line will go to so many places on the board.

                  Re: vizio dead set

I understand what you say about the 5v supplying different parts of the board. I have been tracing some. My problem is I don't know what the values voltages or being open or closed.I looked for diagrams and from what I read. Vizio does not release schematics. Ones that are out there were leaked. Only thing I found on vizio e420vo is users manual. Is there any particular words I should use in my search.,cause I'm not having much luck.
Is there a website that you know where to find it. This model is the 30a not 10a.

                    Re: vizio dead set

I also have a Vizio e420vo that is dead. It is my brothers tv and was working fine until he messed with the circuit the tv was connected to while hooking up a ceiling fan. I don't know what he did, but he blew the breaker. when he fixed the fan wiring, the tv would not turn on. I looked at the boards and there is not obvious signs of anything being cooked. The main fuse on the power supply is good and I get 5v on the 3 pins that say 5v on the header that goes to the main board. I did followed BUDM's suggestion by connecting 3 1k resistors to the connector that goes to the main board to the backlight, ps on and I on off and the backlight lit up. Does that mean the power board is good? I have read about the eeprom possibly fixing the problem, but the vizio logo does not light up orange when the tv is plugged in. Do you think the eeprom will fix my set? Thank you in advance for any help.

Try a reset, unplug the TV, then press and hold the power button on the TV set for 30 seconds, then release it. Then wait 10 minutes and plug the set back in, press and hold the power button again on the set until it turns on or hold the power button while plugging tv in.

nomoresonys - There are no buttons on the TV. I was probing around on the main board. There are what I think are 2 fuses by the connector coming from the power board. I get continuity at F2 but not at F1. How can I safely jump this to test it? If this is my problem, where can I get a replacement?

They are little Fuse brand, available everywhere, ie: digikey F2583CT-ND https://www.digikey.com/product-deta...83CT-ND/813061
I would check for a shorted component on the main board side of the fuse
