Toshiba A300 keep restarting ?

Dear Badcaps Member,

I have an issue with Toshiba A300 keep restarting ,
If I don't put boot on USB , it's stable,
but by the time I try to boot with Ubuntu 16 on USB, it's restarting all the time,
I have put a new heat compound and change NEC tokin capacitor,

What else missing here ?

when does it restart exactly? at what stage of booting or in the OS?
If it is Ubuntu, read the last message of the screen just before the restart happens.

I'm not sure, I can not see anything on the screen,
only empty blinking cursor I don't use keyboard at all, only boot from USB ...

Any clues ? or experience relating with it ?

now you should test booting from a different OS on a different USB memory.

the problem seems to be related to a MMC card. If such a card is connected to the mainboard, remove it. then try again.
does the laptop boot normally from the hard disk if you do not use a USB memory?

I guess it's just randomly crashing and it happened that the SD controller was being initialized this time.
Maybe the replacement caps for the NEC Tokin aren't good enough.

It can run now, but only one core detected,
suppose to be 2 cores
Is it half of the CPU failed ?

ACPI = off on GRUB, ubuntu 16.04,
Any clues ?

I fully agree with piernov and ktmcross. I'll suggest to replace those caps again with 4X330uf caps.

I have replaced it with 4x330uF Tantalum Caps,
But only 1 CPU can run, looks like the other half is fail.
boot with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
I have activated dual core in BIOS but it can not run ?
Any ideas ?

Windows 7 can not boot, Ubuntu 12 and 18, same response,
Fedora 29, must use noacpi=off on grub, then it can boot....

is it possible that half of the CPU fail ?

where is it notified in the Bios or in the OS that half of the CPU is not active?
it may give a clue to solve it.

I have changed on the BIOS to dual core, but still 1 core in the OS,

What is the issue ?
I'm thinking that my CPU is half dead....

The T9400 is 1066 MHz FSB .Does the A300 chipset only support up to 800Mhz fsb .

Depends, there are a lot of A300 models. 965 chipsets won't support this CPU (won't even boot), but 3 and 4 series will.
