philips 37" lcd blinks and wont turn on,,

Hi..I have a Phillips 37PF9431D/37 LCD TV (37"). It quit working. Now all I get is a red blinking light (power). It starts green then it has one long red blink followed by two faster short blinks, then repeats the same cycle....

i googled the problem and all mi got is that it needs a firmware upgrade....
i downloaded the firmware...formated the usb to FAT 16...AND STILL NOTHING...
i opened the back and all the caps look good...

Do you guys have any suggestions...???. ( i also read a diode can be the problem bu t i couldnt figure out which one...)

So they updated that 100 Ohms 1/2 Watt high frequency surge limiter resistor to 470 Ohms 1 Watts for this capacitive power supply. I still use 100 Ohm but changed it to 1 Watts, still running for almost 2 years now. I may find the time to put in 470 Ohms instead if the resistor goes out again. Thanks for the info Ron. I knew it was a bad design when I saw the 1/2 Watts resistor.

I would imagine if it's open it would read OL on your meter. What are you getting at location 3318? All the resistors i've ever seen that have failed read way high.

It should read 100 Ohms right now if it is good.

Just got to work on the tv today....
Mr Bill...I bought an analog meter....measured it at (x1K) and the resistor read off the scale...was crazy .... so i thought i messed up and i changed to ( x100) read - 2 - .
Then the tv turned on....weirdest thing...then i updated the software ( since the tv was working) turned off the tv like it instructed me to ... went to turn on the tv...SAME PROBLEM.... blinked the same code..
I reconnected the meter..at (x100) and it turned on again.... so watched tv for about 3 hrs... then i decided to inform you guys on my progress....

                  1. do you think the resistors just getting stuck...
                  2. can i buy that resistor at Radioshaq.??? i have no idea what to buy there are no readings on it..
                  and which one to purchase.

So you are using your analog meter which has low very low input impedance compared to the Digital meter while the TV is plugged in?

It should be 470 Ohms, not 470,000 Ohms.
By the way, be careful when probing around that circuit, it is in the Primary AC hot side, do not anything with your body's part.

Oh i see no k after the ohms.....
Are these ok... these are available through Radio shack-- i dont by online...
                          Which would be best...????
                          1..330 ohm 1/2W 5% ( i know it should be 1w )
                          2..470 ohm 1/2W 5%
                          3.. 680 Ohm 1W 2% ( is this overkill)
                          4.. 680K Ohm 1/2W 2%
                          5.. 330Ohm 1W 2%

There is no "direction" for installing a resistor
