    Possible to run Win7 on a Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15IKB, i3 gen8 & UHD 620

A client bought this stupidly......and very quickly discovered that w10 isnt what he wanted.......well I've got everything to work in win7 except the GPU, which is an Intel UHD 620.... I can not for the life of me find or force an older driver to work.... For Intel HD GPU's that claimed no support older than 8/8.1 or 10, I've always been able to do some trickery to make them work....but the UHD seems to be a different animal.... Any input would be appreciated!!

    CPU is an i3 8th gen, 4gb ram, and a 1tb spinner....

If you were a sexy blonde Swedish lady, I'd give you a great big sloppy kiss!! ...but instead, beer on me! It worked like a charm! Apparently the UHD's require a little more modding than the older HD's do...

Last but not least with this piece of shit.....doing the setup, I used a normal keyboard & mouse.....well come to find out the touchpad doesn't want to work. I believe it to be a Synaptics clickpad (it doesn't appear in the device manager, so guessing based on system specs)....tried about a dozen drivers, nada. Of all the stupid BS....

Might be an Elan touchpad. Try this combo Synaptics & Elan package, should work for W7 also.

Edit: You might also need the serial IO driver installed first.

(It's to Arch linux as Ubuntu is to Debian, only far less bloated and junky. The Cinnamon edition is probably the best for former windows users who are new to linux).

should have gone with nvidia graphics.

it might be a touchpad connected to USB, and with 8th gen chipsets, USB 3.0 drivers are here

                    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...Chipset-Family

you might have to find some way to install it automatically. With PC's it's usually easy to hook up a PS/2 keyboard. Laptops, different story. Slipstreaming them is the best way usually

no, that would just create more problems. The owner of this thing is a 69yr old man with zero tech skills.

USB is working, I have the intel usb3 drivers slipstreamed into the win7 installer, this thing has no usb2....so without, you'd likely get the 'missing media' error during the install.

The keyboard works though. I'd definitely have gone with nvidia graphics if I had a choice.

Well, it depends on what model it is, DC, DE or FD.
There seems to be three different touchpads available for it: Alps, Synaptics or Elan.
Should be possible to figure out by looking at the device ID in device manager.
The Win7 version you used: is it the one I have slipstreamed with USB3 & NMVE support?
Just thinking out loud that maybe it does not have the latest USB3 drivers for such a new system.

this is the USB driver I have slipstreamed: Intel(R)_USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver_5.0.4.43_v2

I have no idea which touchpad it is....but I think it's the synaptics 'clickpad', as you can press just about anywhere on it, and it clicks....synonymous with the clickpad....but I have no HWID's to verify that. The label on the bottom says '81DE'

look up the service express number and see what software they have for you for win10 for the touchpad. If it's synapitics, I know they released a unified generic driver from their website but last I looked was some time ago and I don't know it it covers win7 anymore

heres an idea I thought of last night...did you fn+key to enable/disable the touchpad? see if it's enabled in the bios?

If there's a setting in the BIOS for it, they've hidden it good....I couldn't find it.
