    3300uF 6.3v Capacitors Needed!

I'm trying to track down some 3300uF 6.3v low-ESR capacitors for a Biostar Socket 423 motherboard. The problem is, all my 3300uF caps are 12.5mm diameter, and I need 10mm... Even Digikey or Mouser doesn't have 10mm 3300uF caps. If any of you know of a source or have any 3300uF caps, let me know!! Their height isn't a big issue, just the diameter.

Whew....I still had the list in an old doc.

Here's the bad news.......I don't know if they have what you need. The good news is, they either can make it or know what obscure place does have it. I was looking for the exact replacement for the 1500s on the VP6. One of them replied with where to get it. Just can't remember which. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

        Figures.....

As soon as I hit 'Submit', I remembered this site I used to go to when I was purchasing parts for some boards I was building.

        http://www.freetradezone.com/

It requires registering, but if I remember correctly, you can register with whatever names you want.

I never looked for low ESR caps, but had a search engine.

Lets see if I can further the confusion factor......

So whats the verdict on the 6.3v 3300uF 10mm? The Epox 8RDA+ uses 6 of these in a row, and I'm not sure 12.5mm would work. I was thinking of leaning 3 one way and 3 the other way if I really had to replace them. mouser.com was backordered on the 12.5mm ones anyway so I didn't order them.

i havnt needed any that size yet.
i have always found a way to use what i had on hand.
might be tough to find that size from a reputable mfr.
i once used smaller values that would fit and put large smt tantulums in paralell on the bottom of the board.
seemed to do a good job of keeping vcore clean.

                  yet another needs same

I also need a single cap of this rating and size.

any luck so far finding such a beast?

one single 3300uf 6.3v 10mm dia and one single 1500uf 10v 8mm dia are needed to repair a Soyo SY-6BA+100

can't seem to find either type anywhere. :?

                    this brings teh suck.

now what? RMA a stinking board that would take a couple minutes to replace 2 lousy caps?

nevermind paying for it and associated hassle.

                      I FINALLY FOUND SOME!!!

YES!! I found some Rubycon Ultra low-ESR 3300uF 6.3v caps in a 10mm diameter!! They were ungodly expensive, but I've got a few if anyone needs them.

better replace all the 1000> mfd low esr caps.
i am running a 6ba that was full of wendel? caps that were all bad even though they were not all bulging.
since all the ones along the slot are in paralell i installed 3300@10 in every other space.vcore is dead clean on the scope.

makes sense while "I" am doing the work, but if I DID rma the board you know Soyo would only replace the two bad ones.

I'm thinking all the ones running alongside the cpu slot are 1000uf but I won't be able to verify until later.

the two needing replaced are a side by side pairing off to the side standing seperate from any others.

I've tried a few sources to locate those and have even contacted Soyo to see if I could purchase a couple from them but they want me to RMA the board. :?

If you can fit 12.5mm caps, you can get them lots of places, and reasonably cheaply... if you need 10mm ones, better wait for topcat to reply with where he got his.

The (ugly) option is to use 12.5mm ones, with long leads, and stagger them. i.e. squish one to the right, one to the left,... I don't know how well that will work on your board though, having never seen one.

Another ugly option is to buy extra-large caps (I've seen 12.5mm 5600uf ones, can get much higher if you can fit 16/18mm), and put them in every other spot, assuming they're all in parallel.

(oh, and if you decide not to recap the board, I'll happily relieve you of it.
