Samsung UN40H5201AF TV Backlight Stays on if Power Supply Isn't Grounded

I have a UN40H5201AF TV had no backlight so I replaced the majority of the LEDs on the edge lit strip but what is wierd is that the backlight goes off on the TV after a few seconds. But when I remove the power supply from the ground (place it on a cardboard) the TV stays on and the backlight works. Anyone come across this issue?

I suspect that you have one of the led's connection on the strip or it's wire lead shorting to metal panel ground, when you have the power supply isolated from ground the backlights would then stay on because you removed the path of the short in the panel to the power supplies ground. Check if there is any voltage between the panel metal and the power suppies ground when the power supply is isolated with the cardboard.
