    how were they loaded?
    if you test with lil load you won't see anything.

      They were loaded with a GX270 mobo at the BIOS setup screen, so the load was light.

      With that said, they pass prime95 for 24 hours so something is working.

        yes, and that something is probably decent caps in the cpu's VRM section.
        <wink>

        i was comparing new fortron to my 6-7 year old enermax, and i saw no ripple whatsoever...simillar load to yours, just the mobo's bios...
        that was probably less than 50W, so no wonder i saw nothing...

        they start to produce more noise when loaded...

        in other words it's not so easy to test ripple without those devices that jonnyguru has, ie
        http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...ng_Methodology
        mainly load tester.

          Yes, me too.
          I actually asked what they used and what they replaced [as to series] and he couldn't answer what was replaced.
          - Tells me they didn't check new vs old ESR.
          Then again, back then, almost no one did.

            From the article looks like they were almost all fujiyuu TMR and TM.

            Can't find ratings for their TMR series on their website, but TM is there.

            http://www.fuhjyyu.com.tw/pro.htm

            He replaced them with UCC KY and KZE, not really specifying which he replaced with which.

              TM = TMR
              TN = TNR
              Pretty sure.
              I've seen the two numbers used interchangeably in the same spots for one PSU to another of the same model.

                Re: Are Nichicon HM & HN back in good standing?

                some usa forum member should send 2 psus to o.wolf(one with badcaps, other recapped) to figure it out in more determinate way...

                or just send a psu with badcaps and decent caps separately, he can replace old ones himself...heh

                oh yeah, i asked o.wolf about those psus wherabouts, and he said they're long gone...so he can't test if settlin- in would be a factor...
