hah good thing i caught myself before doing any of that...it was just a problem with the vga connector on my computer. switched to DVI connection and its all good now!

You probably used a thin VGA cable, i.e. with insufficient shielding on the signal wires. VGA is an analog signal and susceptible to electromagnetic noise. DVI is a digital signal and not affected by that kind of noise.

yeah its something like that. also my video card only has dvi and hdmi output so i am using a dvi to vga converter. maybe it was just loose or something. at any rate its all good now. ive made it my main pc monitor and im using it now. thanks again!
