Toshiba 40L1333DG no power, blinking green/red power light fixed by flashing firmware

    Fixed a Toshiba 40L1333DG TV with a 17MB95S-1 motherboard.
It was not turning on (no picture/backlight/sound), even though the microcontroller would get hot. Sometimes the power LED was flashing green/red.

The measurement on the PSU were good, except the DIM signal was 0V.

By flashing the firmware, the TV came back to life again.
At first I picked up a firmware which worked except that it was for the wrong panel, and such the colors were messed up.
Attached is the good firmware for this TV, found at http://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3202664.html .
(splitted it in 2 parts because it's just above the size limit)

    Procedure for flashing:
Grab a USB key, create one FAT32 partition, put all the files (mb90_en.bin, mboot.bin, usb_auto_update_A1.txt) at its root, plug it in the TV (I used the top USB port), hold the OK button on the remote and turn the TV on. Wait for the LED to start flashing (faster than the regular error blinking), you can release the OK button. When it's finished, the TV will restart by itself and show the configuration wizard.

I also attached some schematics for the PSU, not sure which one is the right one, but at least you get the pinout for the CN4 connector to the motherboard.

I'm digging up this thread as there is lots of info relevant to my questions.

I have a Toshiba 40L1333DB TV with symptoms as above.
I tried to load in the above files but it didn't seem to work.

Then I found a a bin file, Toshiba 40L1333DG.bin in the "Eeprom dump thread!", but that didn't work either.

I hold the "OK" button on the remote for 10-20 seconds, blink rate changes, but nothing seems to happen after that, no matter how long I wait.

    Couple of questions.

Am I using the right files?
Is it critical to use a FAT32 or just FAT formatted USB stick? (read elsewhere)
Does it matter which USB port I use? (read elsewhere)
After the first 10-20 seconds, how long then should I have to wait?
Should something appear on the screen at any stage during the load?

Many thanks for any guidance here.

Very nice fix, was there instructions how to do it or did you already know?

          Thanks for the help above.

I think these Tvs break down a lot leading to "Too Much Information" and hard to find an exact solution.

The link in the above post lead me to other links in other posts and the whole thing became confusing.

I finally found this link. Post #8 contained the correct procedure and firmware for my TV. So thanks to @asek94.

          Also of help was:

Finally as a last resort, or perhaps I might have to do it yet, is this:

          Again, thanks to all.

            Ok an update.

TV still wasn't 100% right, especially on a cold start. Also the terrestrial tuner wasn't available in the tuner menu. So I download the latest firmware and load procedure from the Toshiba website. Tuner was now available and worked fine, but TV still wouldn't turn on consistently. Just a flashing green light.

So I took the drastic step indicated in the third link in my post directly above. @steviewonder is a genius. Many thanks to him.
