I totally agree with you on that statement. 
Every Gigabyte board I've had has either died or needed repair within the warranty period.
I got fed up in the end with the Gigabyte GA-8i945P-G motherboard in my main system and got an Intel DP965LT board and everything has been fine since that. Earlier this year I upgraded my system... again.... and bought an Asus P5K-E WIFI.... best board I've ever had.
