Hi guys
I am still trying to fix this vintage Onkyo Integra Amplifier model A 8690.
It's turned into a bit of a restoration problem. The problem is bad contacts in the Tone Direct switch. The amplifier will work fine but drops the audio from one channel or the other at random and waggling the Tone Direct switch fixes the problem - for a while.
I tried to dismatle the amplifier so i could get contact cleaner into the switch. That went OK but then the big issue I had with this were the old ribbon cable connectors that would no longer grip the ribbons once I disassembled the amplifier to get to the switch.
So I had to replace all the old connectors with new ones, soldering proper plugs onto the ribbons and sockets to the PCBs. The good news is the Amplifier still works after this but the bad news is trying to clean the switch did not help At least it is easy to take apart and put back together now.
Anyway it seems i need a new switch but I am strucggling to find these old switches
The service manual says it is switch S353 type NRSM-183-25SS Rotary.
Anyone know these vintage amps who could advise me?
Service manual attached
Cheers
Richard
