Vizio E320VL powers on but no backlight

    hi

i beleive issue is bad inverter section on the ps

i power tv on and the vizio logo goes from orange to white and i can see startup the vizio logo show on the tv screen (no backlight)

i have 12v and 5v and 3v blon at the ps

after about 2 min of tv not connected to vidoe source it goes to standby and vizo goes to orange i believe this is notmal

doing a brief search brings up a repair kit for the ps/inverter obard on shop jimmy so i assume this is a common issue

here are pics of the stock board and repair kit

on my board R721 seems to be open and thats right before the transformer circuit..so it does seem that this could be related to issue.

    anyone have this same issue?

R721 is the fusible resistor for feeding B+ to the inverter circuit, you need to test MOSFET's Q701, Q702 to see if they are shorted out or not.

Thanks bud...i figured issue is inverter circuit.....i actually just got good price on a used working board $20 shipped...thats my max spend on fixing lcds today....they have little to no vslue anymore....for $20 it will be fixed and can maybe sell it for $40...i found the tv in trash today...i may just give it to my friends daughter when fixed....i just hope the issue isnt a bad backlight lamp.

hey budm...off subject question regarding lcd tv in general

with no tcon board connected what would the display look like when powered on?

would display be all white or all black?

update..as i expected it was a bad inverter board section of the ps

i got a replacement board for only $20 shipped and issue resolved

i was going to troubleshoot it at component level but not worth the headache...it was more sensible to buy the $20 replacement in my opinion..

Thanks for the follow-up, now you have spare parts form old board too.
BTW, you ask ,e what you see on the screen if T-CON board is not connected to the main board, try that and see for your learning experience.
