Looking for information about Panasonic FAU (or F AU) capacitor

Hello, I've found a dark blue / silver Panasonic 1800uF/6.3V capacitor labeled as "Panasonic 105ºC FAU", do you have information about this series? suitable replacement suggestions are welcomed. It belongs to a Sega Saturn power supply that I want to recap.

probably very old, F = low impedence.
A i never heard of, C is next up, then M or F
(or K if it needs to be smaller)
so FC or FM or FR should be fine.
dont trust them from the external apearence btw, i have seen FC leak around the wires when they get old.

budm nailed it above. These are Panasonic FA series. If I remember, these were discontinued in favor of the FC series... so they are supposedly equivalent.

I wouldn't recap these, as they are probably still okay, unless they were heat-abused.

I've seen Panasonic caps leak only when abused with too much heat while soldering/desoldering and from physically applying too much pressure on the caps sideways (i.e. pushing on them sideways while being soldered). Otherwise, no, I've never seen them leak. They are very reliable.

If you still chose to replace them, I suggest saving these older Panasonic caps if they still read in spec - they can still be used for a temporary recap in place of many cheap China garbage caps today found in just about every electronic device. Sad when you see 20+ year old caps do better and last longer than yesterday-made cheap garbage.

Thank you, I take good note. I thought it was a good idea to replace all the capacitors >25 years old even if they are very good, but I'll leave my other PSUs if the electrolytics used are not problematic.

For this PSU I'm gonna recap since I've already bought them. Fortunately the replacement I ordered for this FA U is Panasonic FC.
